Textile design and fabric upcycling workshop at Liebling House, Tel Aviv. Participants will try embroidery, sewing, weaving, patchwork, and mending holes.
Reworking and recreating beloved old fabrics—those we have at home, full of potential. Repairing, upgrading, repurposing, and giving them new life through experimenting with a variety of techniques, such as embroidery, hand sewing, machine sewing, weaving, mending holes, working with patches, and more. Led by Yuli Maroz.
Clothing and textile products grow old and fall out of use in all kinds of ways—a tear, a stain, the wrong size, or simply because we have grown tired of them. The desire for something new and the good feeling that buying a new item gives us are natural, but there is an even better option, one that also benefits nature: upcycling. Workshop participants will have access to a variety of tools found in the City School’s studio, including a sewing machine, iron, embroidery threads, needles, and fabrics.
Yuli Maroz is a graduate of Bezalel’s Department of Industrial Design and creator of the O peel brand. She is a designer, researcher, and developer of a line of thought through dismantling and assembling living materials such as fruit peels; she creates art and design items with renewed value and leads workshops.
