Psychological play “The Worm” about the trauma and memory of a Holocaust survivor. Starring Alexander Bargman.
The Berlin IBDT Theatre (International Berlin Drama Theatre), with the participation of the Malenkiy Theatre (Tel Aviv), presents: “The Worm”
“The Worm” is an intimate psychological play inspired by the works of Shamai Golan.
The action takes place in Israel in the mid-1980s. At the center of the story is a man who experienced the horrors of the ghetto as a child, lost his entire family in a concentration camp, and his wife, with whom he has lived for thirty years. A festive family dinner becomes an attempt to finally talk about what they have remained silent about for so many years.
“The Worm” is a play about the pain a person continues to live with after the war; about the consequences of unresolved trauma; about love confronted with the impossibility of drawing close to a beloved person; and about an internal war that continues many years after the real one has ended.
It is the story of a man who once “died”—and lived for a very long time afterward. A story about fear, memory, love, and an attempt to find light where it seems almost impossible.
