Finist the Clear Falcon — visiting the Maly Theatre

In 2021, a theatrical play about Russian women who left their homeland and married radical Muslims involved in jihad was staged in Moscow. The production received all of Russia’s most prestigious theater awards.

On May 4, 2023, Russian authorities arrested playwright Svetlana Petriychuk and director Zhenya Berkovich, the creators of the production, and sentenced them to six years in prison, accusing them of justifying the activities of ISIS and promoting terrorism.

Both remain imprisoned, and their case has sparked widespread protests.

The Akko Theater Center proudly presents the Israeli premiere of this play, titled Finist the Bright Falcon, translated and directed by Professor Roi Horowitz, head of the theater program at Bar-Ilan University.

A discussion with the audience will take place after each performance.
