Tour of the Exhibitions: Tom Wesselmann: Big, Ilana Dothan: Shelf Life, Numa Bar: On the Other Hand
A special tour taking us through three exhibitions dealing with consumer products and the images associated with them. In his exhibition On the Other Hand, Numa Bar reveals the power of the image of a consumer product through the way we look at brands and the world around us. The exhibition Tom Wesselmann: Big shows how consumer culture and American brands were presented by Pop artists, and how any image can become a commodity. Ilana Dothan collects traces of consumption through everyday packaging and objects, and in her exhibition Shelf Life presents viewers with what remains after consumption: the packaging, the remnant, the memory.
Through selected works in the three exhibitions, we will examine the life cycle of consumer culture and try to understand how our consumption habits have changed, and especially what they can teach us about society, culture, and everyday life.
