Ajami-2, or Hundertwasser's Hamza
Tour of southern Ajami on October 3, from 16:00 to 19:00, starting at Jaffa Port. The program includes a mosque, courtyards, mansions, and a visit to “Ajami’s mother.”
On Saturday evening, October 3, from 16:00 to 19:00, we’ll continue exploring the Ajami neighborhood—part two, with the unpronounceable title “Hundertwasser’s Hamsa”: we’ll have coffee at the home of the “Mother of Ajami” and see the Austrian genius’s fountain in its proper place!
We’ll start where I end my classic Ajami tour, at the Jaffa Port, and head south. We’ll see a British-built water tower, peek into a couple of courtyards that fell victim to the Tel Aviv municipality’s mad architectural projects, stand by the Ajami Mosque and learn who Ajami actually was, admire newly built mansions, see my favorite fish restaurant, and perhaps buy fresh fish on the way back.
The “icing on the cake” will be a visit to one of the homes in Ajami. While it’s still hot, we’ll drop in on Miriam and see how Arabs and Jews live together—in a communal apartment. The hostess, an Arab Christian woman, earns her living by selling “Ajami Coffee” and reading palms. There will be no need to have your palm read, but you’ll be able to drink and buy coffee.
We’ll walk approximately 5 km, with no changes in elevation. There is a large parking lot.

Tour price: 150 shekels, adults only, including the coffee visit and a light snack.
Meeting point: the end of Namal Jaffa Street, at the very SOUTHERN end of the parking lot at Jaffa Port, on the corner of Simona Tagger Street.
