Hoshana Rabbah Study Session in Tel Aviv

Shishi Shabbat invites everyone to the traditional all-night Limud “Hoshana Rabbah”—to learn, debate, think, and seek answers together to questions that are much more interesting to discuss in good company.

The theme of the 2026 Hoshana Rabbah Limud will be “Reset.”

Jewish history knows many moments when the familiar world changed so dramatically that it had to be put back together from scratch. After catastrophes, exiles, revolutions, and sweeping social changes, Jewish communities repeatedly faced the same question: what from the past must be preserved, what must be abandoned, and what needs to be reinvented in order to continue existing while remaining true to themselves?

We will talk about such historical “resets” of the Jewish world—about how ideas, identities, communities, and Jewish life itself have changed. We will discuss how Israel is changing right now and what questions the upheavals of recent years are posing to it.

More than 10 lecturers and experts in a wide range of fields, meetings with interesting people, a screening and discussion of a short film, and a nighttime tour of Tel Aviv!

We will also try to transfer the same conversation from society to ourselves, explore it through several personal stories, and reset a little at creative workshops.

Because a reset does not mean starting life from scratch. It means understanding what we want to take with us going forward.
