Bati, a young ultra-Orthodox woman and mother of three, lives in Jerusalem according to a carefully structured routine. Her world is suddenly thrown into turmoil when she begins receiving suspicious photographs in the mail of her beloved husband, Laser, and discovers that he is being blackmailed by a local gang.
The revelation shatters the couple’s lives and sends Bati on a journey of awakening, self-discovery, and a search for emotional and feminine freedom.
The play was written based on a screenplay by Mindy Erlich, who grew up in Jerusalem’s ultra-Orthodox community, and which became an acclaimed, award-winning film directed by Nir Bergman.
The production brings to the stage a rare ultra-Orthodox female voice and reveals the human complexity behind the walls of silence.
