A theater-dance performance about three friends confronting past trauma and rape culture. At the Da Vinci Culture Cell, Tel Aviv-Yafo.
Three friends land in a fictional world that forces them to confront past trauma. In a bizarre journey through time, filled with sarcasm, pain, oppression, and disconnection, they try to process and understand what happened. If it happened.
“Ba’etzba’ot” is an honest and sarcastic performance that puts on the table the brutal trivialization inherent in Israeli rape culture, from different perspectives within society. In a world where yet another sexual-assault story is perceived as “passé,” “Ba’etzba’ot” stops the erosion and places the pain on stage. Three friends embark on a bizarre journey, looking reality straight in the eye in the face of a culture that prefers to look away.
Indeed, life is difficult with complex post-traumatic stress, but the work does not necessarily address the difficulty of functioning in everyday life, but rather the ease with which we as a society currently perceive this matter.
