Vanya Zhuk’s concert featuring songs from early Aquarium will take place at the Moomin House in Gedera.
Vanya Zhuk returns to Moomin House—this time with a program dedicated to early Aquarium: The Blue Album, Triangle, and others.
Here is what Natalia Belenkaya wrote about the program:
“Cozy Moomin House is one of the most atmospheric places on the cultural map of Russian-speaking Israel. Jazz, singer-songwriters, folk and classical music, theater, lectures, and workshops—all of this is carefully selected by the curators as fitting the spirit of the place and helping to create it. And amid all this splendor, there was also room for pure, distilled St. Petersburg rock, which is undoubtedly what the program by singing guitarist Ivan Zhuk, I Bought Myself an ARP and a Drum Machine, represents. In it, he turns to Aquarium’s early albums, namely The Blue Album, Triangle, and others.
Regular visitors to Moomin House already know Vanya—he has played here more than once. Last time, it was a range of Gypsy, jazz, and Hasidic songs; now it is time for material almost every young man who picks up a guitar in St. Petersburg inevitably encounters. Early BG is no less touching and dear a phenomenon than the Moomin trolls themselves.
The musician’s technical capabilities have already reached—and surpassed—the limits dreamed of by the hero of BG’s song about a drum machine (the term simply means programmable drums). All that remains is to open the door a crack into a place where time is always half-frozen, when young wizards worked wonders in Tropillo’s underground studio, and those wonders spread across the country, becoming a school of rock, blues, and everything else for those who came after them.”
The price is 100 shekels. Payment at the entrance.
There are only a limited number of places at Moomin House, so please register in advance so that we know how many guests to expect.
