Summary

A talk at the “Andy, Matthew and Ruti” exhibition at CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo. Artists and curators will discuss the works and working with the video archive.

Descriptiontranslated from Hebrew (original)

The exhibition Andy, Matthew and Ruthi was created as a tribute to the video archive of the Center for Contemporary Art, accumulated over the course of its activities. The works presented in it were created especially for the exhibition, as part of an unconventional, collaborative process that continued for months: weekly meetings between the artists and curators, conversations, shared viewings, and an ongoing return to the archive materials.

In a conversation with the exhibition artists: Dafna Amira, Adir Cohen, Laila Abd al-Razzaq, Tamar Peri, and Liam Chambon, together with curators Hila Cohen-Schneiderman and Tamar Margalit, we will discuss the works on display and the working process that developed around the archive.

How does one approach an archive whose materials have accumulated over decades? How does one choose what to focus on from among thousands of works? Through the inclinations and shifts that emerged between the archive materials and the new works, we will think together about memory, time, and material, and about the possibility of rereading history through creation in the present.

The conversation will take place in Hebrew.

Duration: approximately 60 minutes

Admission: Included in the exhibition admission fee

At 13:00, immediately following the conversation, a musical performance by Tamar Peri will take place in the exhibition.
