Performance | Double Booking at the Office | Tamar Sofia Kish <> Human (Uri Zandbank Rahet)

“Double Booking” is a series of time-based events in which artists are invited to work alongside or one after another, with the aim of exploring possible points of intersection. Choreographer Tamar Sophia Kish and musician Human (Uri Zandbank Rahet) launch the series in the office space of the Center for Contemporary Art.

Supervising by Tamar Sophia Kish takes place in the CCA office outside opening hours. The work transforms the administrative space, usually hidden from visitors’ eyes, into a performance arena in which the body moves between being subject to surveillance and its ability to act, resist, and generate presence.

Two performers perform two solos documented by security cameras. The filmed images are projected onto black-and-white screens, presenting the body as an object subject to dual observation. The simultaneous projection of the images makes present the gap between the live event and its capture by an external eye: the camera functions as a defined peephole, magnifying subtle details while leaving parts of the information outside the frame. The body appears at times as a female body in a consumer field of images, at times as an animal documented in its environment, and at times as an abstract mark in the landscape.

The work was developed during residency programs at the Compass Culture Cell and received the support of Yasmeen Godder Company as part of its Guest Artist Program and the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts.

Performance in the Office by Human (Uri Zandbank Rahet) is an electro-acoustic improvisation performance combining tape machines, field recordings, and processed electric guitar.
