Tmu-na Theater: "Revolutionary Women"

Three renowned revolutionaries alongside their female partners, whose contributions to these revolutions have never received recognition. The play enters the bedroom of the Freuds and attempts to discover Mrs. Freud’s role in theories of female sexuality; demands justice for Jenny Marx, who was born a baroness but fought alongside her husband for workers’ rights; and restores the honor of Xanthippe, Socrates’ wife, who was unjustly turned into a symbol of a wicked woman who made her husband’s life miserable.

“Behind every successful man stands a woman.” But why, exactly, does she stand behind him rather than beside him? Why does she disappear from the stage of history when he gains worldwide fame?

The play enters the bedroom of the Freuds and attempts to discover Mrs. Freud’s role in theories of female sexuality; demands justice for Jenny Marx, who was born a baroness but fought alongside her husband for workers’ rights; and restores the honor of Xanthippe, Socrates’ wife, who was unjustly turned into a symbol of a wicked woman who made her husband’s life miserable. At center stage stand three renowned men, whose revolutions remain relevant to each and every one of us to this day. For the first time in history, the performance also gives a central place to their female partners, whose contributions to these revolutions have never received the recognition they deserved.
