A dramatic play about a couple in crisis and a theater creator grappling with inner conflicts. At Tmuna Theater, Tel Aviv.
The play written by Dalia Shimko is a juicy layer cake of conflicts: a couple is experiencing a marital crisis stemming from the Israeli reality. One wants to leave, while the other wants to stay and insists on his home. Are they human, or products of Eddie’s imagination? A talented theater creator filled with conflicts of his own.
Daniel and Karin are experiencing a marital crisis stemming from the Israeli reality. Karin is nearly 20 years younger than Daniel, and there are profound value differences between them. Karin can no longer bear the war and wants to leave for Berlin to live a normal life. Daniel, a true-born Israeli, insists that Israel is the only place he can call home.
Are Karin and Daniel real, or are they actually characters representing the inner conflict of Eddie, the talented theater creator? How is a play born? What really happens between actors and a director? Will a gun that does not appear in the first act be fired in the third? These and many other questions intertwine in a realistic drama— theater within theater—that examines the meaning of values such as love and patriotic loyalty, self-fulfillment, and the struggle between the sexes within a society battered and fractured in terms of its values.
