A bitterly amusing monodrama performed by Alon Friedman, presented at Tmuna Theatre in Tel Aviv. An adaptation of the novel “Death and the Penguin” by Andrey Kurkov.
A monodrama performed by Alon Fridman: Viktor, a failed and lonely writer, an insignificant man who lives in a shabby apartment with his only friend, Misha the penguin. He receives an offer that cannot be refused—to write obituaries in the newspaper for living people in exchange for a substantial sum. But very quickly, a surprising problem emerges: every person Viktor writes about is killed. The play won the 2026 Teatronetto Festival.
A bitterly amusing, moving, and strange play about comfortable loneliness, in a reality where the mafia, politicians, the media, art, death, and penguins intermingle.
