The festival of live scores in Old Jaffa returns for a second, especially dazzling edition, celebrating the two things we love most in the world—music and cinema!
This year: we’re embarking on a journey between three of the world’s largest, most exciting, and influential cities—New York, Berlin, and Tokyo—with Jaffa as the meeting point.
Over three evenings in October, cinematic masterpieces nearly a century old will be screened under the open sky, accompanied by original, contemporary scores performed live by leading local creators.
Cinema from the past, the sound of today, and the big city at the center. Because the city is not merely a backdrop: it is rhythm, movement, commotion, loneliness, and chance encounters. And each evening, we will hear it differently.
DJ Mesh and a band with a hip-hop score for Alone by Paul Fejos. A love story between two young people amid the crowd and dizzying rhythm of New York. A score that will take the Roaring Twenties of the Big Apple and connect them to the beats and sound that became an inseparable part of the city’s identity.
Otarkey and Tzamit with a score for Berlin: Symphony of a Great City by Walter Ruttmann. A hypnotic journey through one day in the life of Berlin, in which the streets, machines, and ceaseless movement become a cinematic symphony. The duo will take Berlin’s industrial rhythm of the 1920s and translate it into an electronic, urban, pulsating score.
Sefi Zisling and a jazz quartet with a score for I Failed, But… by Yasujirō Ozu, one of Japan’s greatest directors. A comedy about youth, friendship, and ambitions in 1930s modern Tokyo. Sefi and the band will bring together the lives of the young people on screen with the freedom, groove, and spontaneity of jazz.
All evenings begin at 21:00
