Guided tour of the year’s much-talked-about exhibition: Come see the third edition of the Tel Aviv Biennale of Crafts and Design, one of the leading and most influential events in Israel’s craft and design scene.
In April 2026, the third edition of the Tel Aviv Biennale of Crafts and Design will open—one of the leading and most influential events in Israel’s craft and design scene. The Biennale will take place at MUSA, Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv, under the theme “Works and Days,” inspired by Hesiod’s epic poem.
The theme seeks to examine the concept of work in its broadest sense: not only as labor and artistic creation, but also as action, initiative, and moral responsibility—concepts deeply relevant to the current social, cultural, and environmental reality.
More than 200 creators will present their work at the Biennale. More than 1,500 proposals were submitted to the judging committee, from which projects were selected representing a broad range of craft and design fields: ceramics, glass, textiles, paper and jewelry, alongside industrial design, fashion design, visual communication, architecture, video, and performative practices. The selection emphasizes quality, innovation, and diversity, and reflects an up-to-date picture of the local craft and design scene.
Many of the works combine tradition and innovation through experimental and process-oriented approaches, with a particular focus on cultural heritage, environmental sustainability, and contemporary material thinking. The Biennale offers a multidisciplinary, research-based, and open perspective on processes of creation, work, and material.
In the museum’s various pavilions, unique collaborative projects will be presented, bringing together the museum’s curators and invited creators. These projects will respond to the museum’s collections and create new connections between past and present. During the months of the Biennale, three academic incubators in different design fields will be presented in succession, offering visitors a glimpse behind the scenes of processes of thought, research, and work.
Alongside the exhibitions, the Biennale will feature an essay catalog, a blog and digital content, an audio guide, and an extensive public program including workshops, lectures, gallery talks, meetings with artists, multidisciplinary events, performances, an international conference, and participatory activities for the general public, including at Jack Joseph and Morton Mandel Park (“The Orchard”). The Biennale serves as a central platform for exposure, engagement, and broad cultural impact, and invites partners who share a commitment to creativity, society, and sustainability.
