Celebrating one year of the Ecological Food Forest as part of the Autumn Urban Nature Month events taking place throughout the city. The artistic program includes an ecological quiz and a workshop for creating signs for the new trees! Ages 6 and up.
Joshua Gardens and the School of Sustainability of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality’s Environmental Quality and Sustainability Authority invite curious children and parents who love nature to celebrate one year of the Ecological Food Forest as part of the Autumn Urban Nature Month events taking place throughout the city. The forest was designed and established by participants in the School of Sustainability’s permaculture courses at Goldberg Orchard, the agricultural farm, and serves as a space for learning about and gathering edible and medicinal plants. Permaculture, gathering, cooking, and other courses take place on the site. In the forest, you will encounter more than 100 fruit trees, shrubs, vegetables, and climbing plants whose purpose is to nourish people, animals, and the entire environment.
In the ecological quiz, we will learn about the plants and animals in the food forest through a short and enjoyable quiz. Afterwards, we will paint and install signs bearing the names of the young trees, including pomegranate, mulberry, fig, carob, olive, and trees you may not have heard of, such as ice cream bean, Panama berry, Rio Grande cherry, and peanut butter fruit.
The workshop is part of the one-year anniversary celebrations of the young educational food forest of the School of Sustainability at the farm, in collaboration with Joshua Gardens, and as part of the Autumn Urban Nature Month events, themed around olive harvests throughout the city.
