Self-guided tour of Jerusalem’s ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods, available for 14 days after purchase. Take the tour at your own pace using your mobile phone.
“Ultra-Orthodox: Not Black and White” is the name of the self-guided tour led by Motti Barlev. Motti was born in the Mea Shearim neighborhood, became secular, and is now a Jerusalem tour guide specializing in Haredi society.
An fascinating tour of Jerusalem’s Haredi neighborhoods, during which we will visit many sites, such as the Gur Rebbe’s Tomb and the shtiblach of Zikhron Moshe; enter bookstores and music stores, yeshivas, gemachs, and more; learn about the various dress codes; discover what the pashkevilim say; and learn about the authority of the rabbinical court (the Badatz). We will also stop at a famous bakery and hear about the future of Haredi society and the major changes taking place within it.
This is a self-guided tour—in other words, a real on-site tour that you take with the help of your mobile phone, at your own time and pace! After purchase, we will open access to the tour for you, and it will be available for 14 days. The entire tour is conducted through an interface adapted to your mobile phone, like an app, where you will receive directions, maps, videos, and everything else.
You may come on the tour with whomever you wish, and as many people as you wish. We recommend purchasing one access pass for every 3–4 people; there is no need to purchase a ticket for each person, so that it does not become crowded around the phone or tablet.
