A musical performance in tribute to Shoshana Damari will take place on August 31, 2026, at the Jerusalem Theatre. Gila Bashari will perform some of her songs accompanied by an ensemble.
The performance “The Anemone from Yemen” invites the audience on a musical and cultural journey through the life, voice, and work of the woman who became a symbol of Israeli creativity and a bridge between traditions, communities, and generations.
Throughout the evening, Dr. Dani Bar-Ma’oz will host and speak about significant milestones in Shoshana Damari’s artistic and personal journey, her far-reaching influence, and her unique place in the Israeli soundtrack. Singer Gila Bashari will perform some of her finest songs, accompanied by an ensemble of musicians in arrangements that combine respect for the original with a contemporary touch.
Alongside the live performances, rare photographs and archival footage will be screened, illuminating special moments from Shoshana Damari’s life and many-year career, and offering the audience a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the legend.
The opening evening of the Teima Festival is an invitation to remember, be moved, and celebrate the musical and cultural legacy left by “The Anemone from Yemen”—a voice that remains an inseparable part of Israeli identity.
