An Israeli musical about two families on a journey from Tunisia and France to the Land of Israel. The performance lasts 105 minutes and is presented at Kivunim Beersheba.
Starring Uri Banai/Gil Kaptan, Elinor Aharon/Adi Zorea, Hagit Zuaretz, Alon Toldano, and the Aqua Oriental band.
The acclaimed musical returns to the Be’er Sheva Theater. A spectacular Spanish celebration featuring dancers, actors, seven musicians, and four singers—a major production with 18 artists on one stage.
Two families, each embarking on a fascinating journey to the Land of Israel, meet by chance and share a dream: to live together on Mount Canaan in Safed. Together, they set out on a journey filled with adventures, dangers, romance, excitement, and countless dreams.
The play is based on the unique story of Grandma Louise and Grandpa Sassi, British subjects who immigrated from Tunisia to Safed and lived there until their final days.
The result is a rich and captivating theatrical experience featuring Ladino from the family home, Spanish music, Maghrebi singing, and the finest Israeli classics with an Andalusian flavor, alongside outstanding acting.
Grandma Louise and Grandpa Sassi smuggle their eldest son, Meir, to Palestine. The British Army insists on enlisting him, but that is out of the question. Their longing for Meir is overwhelming.
Their younger son, Haim, who now lives with them in Marseille, yearns for his beloved Sarah, who still lives in Tunisia with her parents.
These events deeply shake Louise and Sassi, who face a difficult dilemma: should they remain in Marseille and indulge in a comfortable life of wealth and prosperous commerce, or immigrate to Israel and reunite with their eldest son? But what should they do about Haim, their younger son, whose heart is broken?
No less important is their commitment to the Rescue Committee—later known as the Mossad. They were part of a clandestine network of agents carrying out special missions.
