“Cremulator” — a theatrical performance on October 19, 2026, at Heichal HaTarbut, Ashkelon. The performance begins at 20:00.
“Kremulator” is a theatrical adaptation of Sasha Filipenko’s book of the same name, based on real interrogation documents involving the director of the first Soviet crematorium.
The production was directed by Maxim Didenko. Maxim Sukhanov plays the leading role, Svetlana Mamresheva portrays Vera, and Igor Titov plays the investigator.
At the center of the story is Pyotr Nesterenko, a former White Army officer, pilot, and exile. After years of wandering, he decides to do what seems impossible—to return to his homeland, driven not by calculation but by a love that has possessed him all his life.
A story about a man willing to sacrifice everything—his life, honor, and truth—for a feeling that surpasses fear and time. About love that becomes a trial, and faith that drives one to face danger. About choosing between loyalty and salvation, between the past and the future, between duty and the heart.
The premiere took place in Berlin in 2024, and the production participated in the VOICES BERLIN festival.
In 2023, the novel received the award for Best European Novel from the French magazine Transfuge.
The dramatic adaptation was prepared by Johannes Kirsten, chief dramaturg at the Berliner Maxim Gorki Theater. The music was composed by Sergei Nevsky, a recipient of the Berlin Art Prize.
The theater doors open at 19:00. The performance begins at 20:00.
