A journey to the beating heart of the environmental conflict—for experienced hikers who love the outdoors.
We will descend the impressive rock waterfalls of Nahal Akrabim on a challenging and beautiful route, until we reach Ein Tzin—a place that was meant to be a thriving oasis, but whose current condition is a sad testament to the impact of the Oron-Tzin industrial plants.
Along the way, we will explore the deeper questions surrounding the environmental struggle in the Negev: we will discuss water pollution, damage to the drainage basin, and the heavy price nature pays alongside industrial development.
This thought-provoking hike combines challenging walking through breathtaking desert scenery with a pointed discussion about nature conservation and the future of the area.
For those interested, there is an option for an experiential overnight camping stay on the night before the hike, at the Crater campground.
The route is intended for experienced hikers only and requires the ability to walk on challenging trails!
Come walk the desert paths, gain a close-up understanding of the area’s complexity, and experience a powerful and meaningful journey in the heart of the Negev.
