A moving one-woman show based on a true story.
Summer 1942. A chance meeting on a bus traveling to Jerusalem leads to love at first sight. She is Margalit Dromi, a girl from the moshav of Nahalal. He is Ali Ben-Zvi, a Palmach fighter and the son of Rachel Yanait and Yitzhak Ben-Zvi, Israel’s second president. Their story, spanning six years—from 1942 until 1948—is inseparably linked to the fate of the country itself. It includes the events, people, challenges and hardships, ideals, songs, and memories of that turbulent and fateful era preceding the declaration of Israel’s independence and the beginning of the War of Independence.
An Israeli Love Story is a captivating and poignant one-woman show based on real events from the life of its creator and playwright, Pnina Gary.
Pnina Gary served as the artistic director of the Orna Porat Theatre from 1981 to 1990 and remained a member of its board until her death in August 2023.
