A meeting with Ziv Koren and Prof. Dan Ariely about courage, happiness, and decision-making at Zappa Tel Aviv. Through stories and photographs, they will discuss the meaning of life.
What makes us choose one path over another? How do our decisions shape our lives? What can a photographer who is willing to risk himself again and again teach us about meaning? And why do some people risk their lives for a single photograph? Is it possible to be truly happy without also experiencing pain? And what is the connection between happiness, meaning, and the choices we make every day?
In a one-time, thought-provoking event, photographer Ziv Koren and Prof. Dan Ariely will discuss happiness, meaning, decision-making, and the stories behind unforgettable images. Through Koren’s photographs from war zones, disasters, and historic moments, alongside Ariely’s research-based insights into the psychology of decision-making, the two will seek to approach one of the greatest questions people ask themselves: What truly makes life worth living?
Ziv Koren is one of Israel’s and the world’s leading documentary photographers. For more than three decades, he has documented wars, disasters, and historic events in the most dangerous locations. Prof. Dan Ariely is one of the world’s leading researchers in behavioral economics and psychology and lectures at Duke University. His research and books explore human irrationality, decision-making, and ways to better understand our behavior—in order to make better decisions and live more mindful lives.
