Election night. Candidate Oedipus is on the brink of a historic victory that is expected to bring about a change in government. The people are weary of the epidemic that continues to claim citizens’ lives. Seeking to begin a new chapter in the nation’s history and declaring his commitment to “new politics,” Oedipus announces the establishment of a commission to investigate past affairs that tarnish the moral image of the state. Confident in his own honesty, Oedipus declares that the investigation will begin with his own past. This becomes a fatal mistake.
“King Oedipus,” which has captivated audiences and artists for more than two thousand years, appears on the Cameri Theatre stage in a brilliant adaptation—as a tense thriller full of unexpected twists and dramatic transformations.
