A play about the stand-up comedian Dovale G.
Latecomers will not be admitted.
The production is based on David Grossman’s novel A Horse Walks into a Bar.
Essentially, it is the story of a stand-up comedian’s performance as his career is already nearing its end.
The audience does not want to listen to him, so he begins entertaining them in every possible way and spirals into dramatic details of his own biography.
Dov Grinstein, the real name of the man performing under the pseudonym Dovale G., is practically in hysterics, while the audience demands ever greater candor, thinking that this is merely a performance.
He recalls a difficult childhood, the army, and a troubled relationship with his father. His struggle with his insecurities, traumas, and fears unfolds before the eyes of the respectable audience. David Grossman also tells of the torments of creativity—and where, in fact, that creativity comes from.
