Early morning. A café on the seashore in Tel Aviv. Yaakov Brener, an ordinary man, leafs through the menu while waiting for a woman he has arranged to meet. Suddenly, the café’s owner, a certain Alex Hertser, sits down beside him and persistently tries to start a conversation, despite the other man’s clear reluctance.
What begins as a chance dialogue gradually turns into a dark and mysterious psychological thriller. Alex shares the fateful moments of his life with Yaakov, revealing a tragic story capable of affecting Yaakov’s own life as well.
The play “Hot Bagel” raises questions of retribution and forgiveness, guilt, remorse and personal responsibility.
A meeting that seems accidental develops into a stunning journey full of twists and turns—right up to an unexpected conclusion.
