Farewell Tour – Screening and Director Q&A

Carmi, a Tel Aviv journalist, is torn between his love life and crumbling family, his concern for his daughter, who attends demonstrations on Balfour Street, and the unimaginable separation forced upon him from his autistic son, whose institution has closed and who is isolated from the world as part of the coronavirus regulations. Meanwhile, against a backdrop that is increasingly painted in turbulent and ominous colors, he is exposed to a hate campaign being waged against him because of his journalistic writing. The society boiling around him threatens his already tumultuous way of life.

Two plots brush against each other: each influences the other and also serves as a metaphor for its counterpart. What happens within Carmi’s family mirrors the disintegration of Israeli society—but perhaps also its hope.
