Flamenco performance at Tmuna: ARBA

New at Tmuna Theatre: Four dancers meet onstage and invite the audience to observe the creation of a dance. Body, dance, texts, thoughts, childhood photographs, private and shared archives, sounds, songs, and games serve as materials that they pour into the forms of traditional flamenco. Featuring Michal Natan, Moran Ron, Eilat Shahar, and Maya Shani.

A new work receiving its world premiere for the Israeli Flamenco Dance Company.

Following the successful collaboration with Michal Natan on his work THISISPAIN, contemporary creator Hillel Kogan continues his adventures in the art of flamenco. Four dancers—Michal Natan, Moran Ron, Eilat Shahar, and Maya Shani, the pillars of the company—meet onstage and invite the viewer to observe the birth of a dance. Artist-workers, creating a bricolage from whatever is at hand: body, dance, texts, thoughts, childhood photographs, private and shared archives, sounds, songs, and games. All these serve them as materials, which they pour into the forms of traditional flamenco, creating a collision of tastes and worlds. The passion, drama, sanctity, purity, and total devotion to precision of an art demanding enough to verge on fanaticism mingle in the blink of an eye with the everyday, the accidental, silliness, irony, chaos, the permission to challenge, and the right to sing out of tune. In freedom.
