Culinary tour of the Carmel Market and Kerem HaTeimanim in Tel Aviv-Yafo, with tastings and stories about the neighborhood. Price: 215 NIS.
Want to get a big taste of the liveliest market in Tel Aviv? Would you like to hear the story behind every dish? Interested in discovering the legends and secrets of Kerem HaTayimanim? You’re invited to our tour of Carmel Market and Kerem HaTayimanim!
We’ll begin the tour at Carmel Market with an etrog drink from Uzi-Eli, which will whet our appetites and also grant us the health benefits that Uzi-Eli swears the drink provides. We’ll taste malawach filled with all kinds of delights from the finest Yemenite cuisine, experience the famous Tripolitanian bourekas accompanied by vegetables, cabbage, and chermoula, enjoy a bit of Britain with fish and chips, and, since we’ve already reached Europe, continue to a Hungarian experience with sweet kürtőskalács and learn what the connection is between kürtőskalács and rifles. We’ll taste divinely flavored pulled meat from a smoker and even travel as far as Brazil with a special açaí.
We’ll combine the culinary experience with a visit to the alleyways of Kerem HaTayimanim and explore the neighborhood’s unique stories. We’ll hear the story behind the House of Shells, learn about the community of Jews from Aden and how they differed from the other Yemenite immigrants, hear about the Samson Tel Aviv soccer club, which grew up in Kerem HaTayimanim and was the neighborhood’s pride, explore the story of the Kerem Gang, and describe the process of change the neighborhood is undergoing.
You’re invited to taste Tel Aviv with a winning combination of culture and cuisine!
