The screening of the film “Modern Times” will be accompanied by the “Revolutionary Orchestra” conducted by Roi Oppenheim.
Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times is celebrating its ninetieth anniversary.
Nine decades after the premiere of this brilliant film, “The Revolution Orchestra” (Tizmoret Ha-Maapeha), under the artistic direction of Zohar Sharon and Roy Oppenheim, presents an original project: Charlie Chaplin’s masterpiece Modern Times will be screened on the big screen accompanied by an orchestra performing live the original symphonic soundtrack written by the classic of world cinema himself.
Roy Oppenheim will conduct the orchestra.
The Modern Times project continues “The Revolution Orchestra’s” fascinating dialogue with the big screen, begun with previous productions such as Casablanca, The Gold Rush, and Animation Project. Audiences can expect humor, emotion, and the magic of symphonic music performed in real time. Especially today, in the era of the artificial-intelligence revolution, a film about the confrontation between humans and machines feels more modern and relevant than ever.
“The Revolution Orchestra,” founded 22 years ago, creates new original projects. The orchestra’s “revolutionary” idea is that young musicians speak to their peers in a musical language that is familiar and accessible to them—from rock to hip-hop, alongside Israeli classics and jazz—using animation and multimedia in their performances. Over the past decade, “The Revolution Orchestra” has managed to create a small (but loud) musical revolution through its new performance format.
The orchestra regularly performs at various festivals in Israel and works with outstanding musicians from the Israeli music scene.
