After our walk around the Holy Mount, those who still have the energy and curiosity will descend into Zedekiah’s Cave, also known as the Cave of Tsedekiah. It is a gigantic underground cavern beneath the Old City, hidden from view and filled with legends.

According to tradition, this is where the last king of Judah, Zedekiah, fled when Babylon conquered Jerusalem. But he was captured—and then begins the dark story of captivity, blinding, and the fall of the kingdom.

It is also believed that stone for the construction of the First Temple was quarried here.
