Looking Up at the Sky: International Observe the Moon and Planets Night!
The Israeli Astronomical Association and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality invite you to a special evening at HaTahana Park, as part of NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night—an annual event that brings together astronomy enthusiasts, families, and curious people from around the world each year around our closest neighbor in space—the Moon.
During the evening, telescopes will be set up in the park, allowing us to observe the Moon’s surface, discover craters, mountains, and volcanic regions, and learn what can be seen on its surface specifically on this night. And we won’t stop at the Moon: we’ll also point the telescopes toward Saturn, one of the most impressive planets in the Solar System, and try to see its famous ring system with our own eyes. Guides from the Israeli Astronomical Association will accompany the observation, help identify celestial bodies, and talk about the Moon, Saturn, and the Solar System.
This is an opportunity to pause for a moment, look up at the sky, and discover how far one can see from the heart of the city at HaMesila Park.
