
A lecture on the oldest synagogue in Jerusalem, at Yad Izhak Ben-Zvi in Jerusalem. New discoveries suggest that an ancient synagogue predates the synagogue attributed to Ramban.
For a long time, it was commonly believed that the synagogue attributed to Ramban was the oldest surviving synagogue building in the holy city. In the lecture, we will hear about the latest discoveries that change this picture and suggest that another synagogue preceded it by approximately 600 years! We will hear what the sources have to tell us about it and what emerges from the archaeological findings.
