Lecture on lamp carvings from ancient Jerusalem, at 14 Ibn Gabirol Street in Jerusalem. Doors open at 16:30.
Engravings (graffiti) of small seven-branched menorahs, carved into the streets of Jerusalem in antiquity and recently discovered during excavations, arouse great curiosity regarding the identity of the engravers and the historical circumstances in which the menorahs were carved. The lecture will discuss the Jerusalem engravings in comparison with known examples from other sites, and their possible significance in the time and place where they were carved.
Meeting point: Yad Yitzhak Ben-Zvi – 14 Ibn Gabirol Street
Doors open: 16:30
