“Daphnis and the Wind — A Balkan Myth” — a concert by the Mezzo Ensemble, combining ancient Greek mythology, Baroque music, and folk melodies with a Balkan flavor. The ensemble will be joined by the vocal trio Kdoshot.
At the heart of the program is the story of Daphnis and Chloe: a shepherd, nymphs, the forces of nature, and awakening love. The musical journey leads from the earliest surviving Greek sources through a composition by Baroque composer Joseph Bodin de Boismortier to folk melodies, showing how myths and sounds continue to live and change over the centuries.
The concert is part of the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra’s 2026 Magic Festival. The fifth festival is titled “Echo” and focuses on women, works, and voices whose influence continues to resonate in the culture of subsequent generations.
