Haredi society is something of a mystery—a misunderstood bubble within the Israeli mosaic. Everything about it seems so different, unfamiliar, and fascinating: the language, clothing, music, daily routine, and life itself.
If you would like to get to know Haredi society through a Haredi guide and take part in a lively, moving, and surprising tour, you are invited to the most fascinating tour in Jerusalem!
During the tour, we will address the coronavirus crisis in Haredi society: its causes and how it is being dealt with; housing density; the media; the lack of technology; distrust of the establishment; distrust within Haredi society; and more.
During the tour, you will hear a personal perspective on the lifestyle, worldviews, beliefs, and fears; on fashion, culture, music, consumer and leisure habits.
Come for a different, exciting, and vibrant experience in Jerusalem’s colorful Haredi sphere!
During the tour, we will visit and learn about prominent leaders, famous yeshivas, and bustling synagogues. We will reach Malchei Yisrael Street, the vibrant commercial and shopping artery of Jerusalem’s Haredi community. Along the street, we will visit fashion, music, book, Jewish food, media, and Judaica shops.
We will hear what other literature exists besides Torah and halachic books; what will never be found in a music shop; which figures a Haredi child admires; and how people manage without the internet and technology.
And, of course, we will enjoy tastings of traditional Jewish food throughout the tour.
We will begin the tour at Davidka Square with a brief introduction to the Haredi world. From there, we will make our way into the alleyways of the Zikhron Moshe neighborhood and learn about its synagogues, homes, atmosphere, and unique way of life.
We will follow the pashkevilim—the famous street notices—and learn about the media agenda that occupies the neighborhood.
