Persephone Returns from the Depths

Through a video-art work projected onto the surface of an ancient cave rock, the cave itself becomes the Underworld—a space of memory, loss, dreams, and transformation.

Images of roots, soil, the depths of the earth, inner landscapes, the human body, and shifting colors intertwine, creating a visual journey between darkness and light, between stillness and renewal. The figure of Persephone appears and disappears within the imagery.

The work explores longing, descent into the depths, and the possibility of returning from them changed—not as those who have forgotten the darkness, but as those who carry it with them as part of the cycle of life. During the Hebrew month of Tishrei, a season of transition and renewal, the pomegranate also returns—the fruit associated with the myth of Persephone and the covenant between the Underworld and spring. How do we return to life after periods of loss and darkness?
