A Tribute Show to Bob Dylan | The Blackbirds and Dor Nagar

We are delighted to host this special performance at Nocturno Live for the first time, made possible by singer Dor Nager’s visit to Israel for one performance only!

This performance is a dream come true for us: The Blackbirds, the band that sets stages across the country on fire, together with excellent musicians and guests, will perform with Nager some of Bob Dylan’s most moving and beloved songs. The show will also focus on versions from Dylan’s legendary tour, The Rolling Thunder Revue, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary—but not exclusively.

The greatest challenge in creating a tribute to an artist like Bob Dylan is walking the fine line between faithfulness to the original and personal interpretation. This requires deep understanding, a genuine connection, and, above all, musical maturity in performance. For those who have not yet witnessed this phenomenon, Dor Nager possesses a rare ability to infuse Dylan’s songs with truth and meet this challenge uncompromisingly. It seems that for him, his encounter with Dylan’s songs goes far beyond a tribute.

For years, he has delved deeply into Dylan’s work and the musical and literary roots from which it emerged, bringing to the stage a personal, honest, and direct interpretation. His approach to the songs has even earned the appreciation of Louie Kemp, one of Dylan’s close friends and a producer of The Rolling Thunder Revue, who attended one of his performances and expressed his admiration.

In 1975—the year Dylan released two landmark albums, Blood on the Tracks and Desire—and at just 34 years old, he embarked on an avant-garde, groundbreaking tour across America known as The Rolling Thunder Revue. His intention was not commercial at all, but rather to get closer to his audience; in his words: “Play for the People”—for everyone who could not afford tickets or make it to the large stadiums and concert halls.

The tour, shrouded in mystery and at times feeling more like a traveling carnival than a musical performance, was documented in Martin Scorsese’s 2019 semi-documentary film Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story, which blends fact and fiction.

Dylan performed different set lists throughout the tour, but among the highlights that will be performed in this show are: “Oh Sister,” “One More Cup of Coffee,” “Just Like a Woman,” “Lay Lady Lay,” “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” “I Shall Be Released,” and more.

An intense experience. A musical séance that will attempt to capture Bob Dylan’s spirit, magic, and freedom in a way you have never heard before.
