A musical-literary performance about the Psalms will take place on September 10, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at Beit Avi Chai in Jerusalem. The performance combines music, conversation, and Midrash.
One hundred and fifty Psalms contain within them moments of pain and peaks of happiness, verses haunted by fear and others filled with joy, descriptions of dreams and nightmares, spiritual highs and the small details of everyday life. They are recited in prayer and as song, while waiting for the bus and during battles, at weddings and funerals. The Psalms’ traces are present in everyday Hebrew, popular and classical music, Hasidic melodies, Sephardic tunes, and modern Hebrew poetry.
In a special original production by Beit Avi Chai, we will delve into several beloved Psalms and discover new, relevant, and stirring dimensions in them through music, conversation, and midrash. Between the musical performances of the Psalms, we will immerse ourselves in fascinating personal stories and traditional and fresh interpretations, gathered together in the courtyard of Beit Avi Chai.
