This photography exhibition documents the environmental transformation of Nahal Revadim stream in Jerusalem following infrastructure development. Creator Prof. Menachem Hannani shares archival and recent images showing the valley before, during, and after construction work. Visitors can explore these visual layers of urban nature and ecological recovery at no cost.
Nachal Ravida flows through a valley between the Beit HaKerem neighborhood and Givat Shaul, and the Har Nof neighborhood in Jerusalem, ending near the Beit Zayit reservoir. It is a hidden gem of nature in the heart of the city, a space where landscape and quiet meet. In recent years, following the paving of Highway 16, the stream underwent dramatic changes, leaving a deep mark on the surface and character of the area. This collection of photographs seeks to observe the different layers of the stream: before the work done on it, during it, and after it, and to examine how the landscape came apart, changed, and begins to be rebuilt anew.
Menahem Hanani has been a Jerusalem resident for sixty years and lives in the Beit HaKerem neighborhood. Menahem is a professor (retired) at the School of Medicine of the Hebrew University and Hadassah Hospital, and engages in research and teaching in the field of neuroscience. Since childhood he has been engaged in photography as a hobby.
