This year, Efim Alexandrov’s unique project “Songs of the Jewish Shtetl” celebrates its 25th anniversary! The international press unanimously recognized it as a unique musical project in Yiddish with no equal anywhere in the world, while its creator, Efim Alexandrov, has received numerous domestic and international awards and titles. A favorite of audiences, Efim Alexandrov is a composer, performer, singer, and guardian of the Yiddish song tradition.

Let us recall that Alexandrov’s previous performances in our country were a huge success in 2022. And now, finally, the author, artistic director, and director of the project “Songs of the Jewish Shtetl,” Efim Alexandrov, is returning to Israel with a major anniversary tour.

Over the 25-year history of the “Songs of the Jewish Shtetl” project, Efim Alexandrov has presented Israeli audiences with numerous themed musical programs. The anniversary tour will feature songs from the artist’s new albums, as well as the very best and most beloved songs that audiences have cherished over these 25 years.

“Songs of the Jewish Shtetl” is music that preserves the breath of the bygone era of the Jewish shtetls and the warmth of the souls of our ancestors, who, despite enduring terrible trials, managed to carry with them the light of the Shabbat candles—the light of the Jewish soul.

Mame-loshn, “the mother tongue”—this is what Jews called Yiddish. These songs are like an open door to the past, where the aroma of Sabbath baking fills the air, where lullabies are sung in Yiddish, where every gesture is an act of care and every word is a blessing. In these one-of-a-kind melodies, one can hear the voices of our beloved grandmothers and grandfathers, our fathers and mothers.
