The famous Haifa club Rodeo—some say one of the best intimate venues in Israel—has seen a lot. At various times, its vibe has attracted such giants of independent rock and singer-songwriter music, and their promoters, as Moscow’s Sergei Kalugin, St. Petersburg’s N.O.M., Alexander Shcherbina, who lives in the United States, and in general, it is difficult to recall any significant visiting Russian-speaking musician who has not played here.

However, if BG decided to visit the Haifa establishment beloved for its music and cuisine, it would inevitably be unable to accommodate everyone interested, no matter how much the tickets cost. We solved the problem “in the most ingenious way,” in the spirit of Kharms: Rodeo is hosting the beginning of a mini-tour by Vanya Zhuk, renowned leader of the klezmer project Naekhovichi and guitarist of the blues band Station Mir, performing songs from Aquarium’s early albums, The Blue Album and Triangle.

The technological tricks of our time—the word “looper,” or loop station, has surely been heard by many—make it possible to fulfill the dream expressed by the author of the song about the “Young Hooligans”: “I’ll buy myself an ARP and a drum machine / And I’ll record all by myself...” Come dispel the loneliness by singing along with songs we all know from old cassettes.
