A concert by Avraham Tal and the Jerusalem East and West Orchestra, featuring a performance of the album “Shotei HaNevuah.” February 3, 2027, at the Haifa Auditorium.
Arrangements and musical direction: Tom Cohen
More than a quarter of a century ago, “Shotei HaNevu’a” released its debut album, marking a particular moment in time. It brought together styles that had never before been combined, along with lyrics that are astonishing to read even today. Caribbean reggae rhythms met lyrics about peace and good neighborly relations here in the Middle East; Arabic music accompanied ideas of a renewed Judaism; and everyone who delved into it still holds a warm and cherished place for this album.
In this series, we invite the marvelous Avraham Tal, formerly of Shotei HaNevu’a, to center stage for a complete performance of this landmark album, alongside several of his great solo hits.
To complete the celebration, guitarist Ilan Bar-Lavi will also join us, bringing together in his sound all the styles and flavors moving between Mexico and Jerusalem.
