Guided hike on the Megiddo Trail from Gahar Stream to Ochberg Lookout. The 12-kilometer route lasts 3 hours and passes through springs, forests, and the HaShofet Stream.
One of the most beautiful sections of the Megiddo Trail. Springs, the HaShofet Stream, an ancient cemetery on a mountainside, and the forests of Ramat Menashe.
Starting point: Gahar Trailhead
End point: Ouchberg Lookout
From the Gahar Stream parking area, we will head northwest along the mountainside, parallel to Route 66, the Haifa–Jenin road. We will pass near Ein Zarik and continue to Kibbutz HaZore’a. We will visit an old cemetery built on the steep mountain slope.
We will continue to the HaShofet Stream, which flows toward the kibbutz, passing bridges, springs, and accessible trails. We will ascend along the HaShofet Stream, which surrounds a high hill, Givat Ma’shol.
We will stop for a break at Ein Farur, and from there continue through the grazing areas on an old “solling” road to Ein HaShnayim. From there, we will ascend along the HaShofet Stream to Einot HaTahana and the reed tunnels.
After soaking our feet—or more—we will ascend to the Megiddo industrial area, where the regional council buildings are located. We will continue along the road surrounding Kibbutz Ramat HaShofet until reaching Ouchberg Lookout.
