An adaptation of Leah Goldberg’s beloved book, “The Absent-Minded Man from Kfar Azar”
A play with songs about an absent-minded man who unexpectedly arrives in a village. The village, whose name is Azar, is quiet and peaceful, small, unfamiliar, and virtually unknown. And in the village, it turns out, there are strange laws
that have been strictly observed for decades. Everything is known, clear, and very orderly, and life there is simply wonderful. The absent-minded man, who very much wants to fit in, makes an effort, tries, and gives it his all—but he makes mistakes, sometimes does rather silly things, behaves differently, and creates problems. He turns everything upside down, cannot remember anything, for him night is morning and today is tomorrow. He keeps the clock in a jar, bathes in cream, drinks from a plate, and falls asleep in the shower. He ruins things, gets the days mixed up, and cooks cholent only in summer. When the situation becomes unbearable, he is simply expelled, without ceremony or regret.
Order returns to the village, once again quiet and peaceful, but emptiness fills its heart and longing begins…
