
Practical course in growing organic food at home at Ramat Hanadiv, Zikhron Ya'akov. Five sessions on Fridays, 16 October–13 November, 09:00–12:00.

The course is intended for anyone interested in learning and applying principles of natural cultivation and growing their own food. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating sustainability values into establishing and maintaining the garden and into daily life.
The course includes five three-hour sessions. Each session includes theoretical study and practical experience.
First session: Principles of permaculture and natural food cultivation
“Measure twice, cut once”: beginning to plan the private garden. Preparing fertile soil. The type of soil at home and how to build a garden bed. We will practice establishing a garden bed on-site.
Second session: Water
Setting up a garden irrigation system. What are the different components of an irrigation system? How to assemble a garden system; considerations when choosing system components; drip irrigation versus sprinklers. We will practice laying irrigation pipes in the garden.
Third session: Seeds and planting
Vegetable families, heirloom seeds and hybrid seeds. What is suitable for planting in spring and summer. The advantages and disadvantages of sowing versus planting. We will practice planting and sowing.
Fourth session: Fertilization
Why fertilization is needed, the different components, and how to fertilize conventionally and naturally. Preparing compost at home using various methods. Organic fertilization: products available on the market. We will experience the composting process taking place at Ramat Hanadiv.
Fifth session: A pesticide-free garden
Natural methods for treating pests; the pests generally encountered in the garden and how they can be treated without pesticides. Interrelationships in the garden—companion plants. Sharing and course summary.

Ma’oz Luenz, a graduate of a permaculture design course from 2008, an instructor in community gardens, and a teacher who helps adults, teenagers and children grow fresh, healthy and organic food themselves. He teaches how to incorporate sustainability principles into daily activities in the private garden and at home.

The concept of the ecological footprint is taking shape in the western part of the Visitor Center. A large garden bed shaped like a footprint is located in the center of the complex, with the heel facing north and the big toe and four other toes, as one unit, facing south.

The Eagles Trail is the longest and most challenging of the three trails in the park and is suitable for experienced hiking families. The trail passes through rich vegetation. Along the trail are wonderful lookout points, a prehistoric cave and an acclimatization enclosure for birds of prey.
Hiking characteristics: Suitable only for experienced hikers. The route includes a descent from a steep cliff.
Trail marker color: Green
Trail length: Approximately four kilometers
Hiking duration: Approximately two and a half hours
