How does it work?

A forest bath is an invitation to slow down, briefly set aside everything that came before and everything still waiting ahead, relax, become inspired, and simply be present.

For three hours, we will take part in a guided walk combining moments of wandering, observation, and listening. Between the stops, we will gather for attentive group sharing, allowing us to put into words what arose along the way and deepen the experience.

The senses become sharper, the rustling leaves gently caress us, the scent of the earth becomes more noticeable, sunlight filters through the trees, and suddenly colors, textures, and sounds that were there all along reveal themselves. Nature has not changed—only the way we encounter it has.

Three hours are exactly the amount of time needed for the body and mind to truly slow down. The entire experience is structured as a complete journey, beginning with a transition from routine into the natural space and ending in a way that allows us to return to everyday life with a sense of presence, calm, and connection.

What is a forest bath?

A forest bath, or Forest Therapy Walk, is a practice based on Shinrin Yoku, “forest bathing,” which developed in Japan in the 1980s from the understanding that spending time in nature has a significant impact on human well-being. Since then, the practice has spread to many countries around the world.

Studies conducted in Japan found that spending extended periods in nature, at a slow and guided pace, enables the nervous system to begin responding beneficially. The American organization ANFT developed a professional methodology inspired by Shinrin Yoku, and today it accompanies thousands of people seeking to pause, listen, and reconnect with themselves through their relationship with nature.

“Healing people and forests happens together—or not at all.” —Moss Clifford

Who is it for?

Nature and forest walks are suitable for adults of all ages and physical conditions, whether attending in groups or individually.

The forest baths taking place at Ramat Hanadiv Nature Park will be the optimal length of three hours. It is recommended to register for and attend the workshop every two weeks or once a month. The workshop will also provide tools for continuing the process independently between sessions.
