A historical tour in Zikhron Ya'akov following the pioneers, the Aharonson family, and the NILI underground. The tour takes place in Gan Tiyul and includes a wine tasting.
Zikhron Ya’akov is a magical colony with the aroma of wine and grapevines brought here by Baron Rothschild. We will follow the pioneers who settled here at the end of the 19th century and, with the Baron’s help, established a wonderful promenade garden and a magnificent synagogue.
On HaMeyasdim Street, we will stop at the pool that supplied water. Near several farmers’ houses, we will tell their story. At the Aharonson House, we will recount the story of this fascinating family: Aaron Aharonson, scientist and founder of the NILI underground organization; his sisters Sarah and Rebecca; and their connection with Avshalom Feinberg. We will also discuss Yosef Lishansky and his connection to the underground organization.
We will visit the colony’s cemetery and conclude at the Founders’ Garden. We will talk about the winery and drink the wine that flows through the colony’s veins.
The tour requires a minimum of 6 participants and is suitable for ages 15 and up.
