The play “Cutting Corners” by Roy Maliach Reshef is being performed at Habima Theatre, Tel Aviv. The plot deals with the ambiguous reality of a psychologist and his patients.
Psychologist Reuven Klein has memory lapses that interfere with his ability to concentrate at work. But he has to work. Three anxious patients who are connected to one another find themselves in his clinic: a woman suffering from panic attacks, her partner, who works nonstop on a Japanese robot, and the new neighbor who has entered their lives and is convinced that people are entering her apartment.
Dr. Klein begins to lose his grip on reality and can no longer distinguish between the patients. His reality and that of his patients become intertwined and distorted, and chaos takes over.
Dr. Klein must now navigate a maze of confusion in order to preserve his identity as a psychologist. If he fails, he may endanger the fragile lives of his patients.
Everything becomes more difficult when all three patients are onstage simultaneously and he does not quite know who is saying what. This is the new play by playwright Roi Malia Reshef. The play is influenced by chaos theory, solar mechanics, and the world of writer Haruki Murakami.
The play holds up a mirror to human vulnerability and the inner anxiety we all experience. Come dive into the wild world of psychological treatments.
